Our New Old House

So, yeah, moving sucks ass.

Hell for that matter, packing and unpacking suck teet.

And in 100 heat, forget about it!

Anyway, we ripped up the old nasty carpet to find good hardwood floors underneath. Now they are in good physical shape, but need cosmetic work. Whoever painted every wall in this house gray also decided they didn't need to lay anything down over the floors before they painted. UGH! Oh well, it will just give us that much more incentive to get them all refinished.

The front & back yards are still a bit "jungle-y". My brother got all the trumpet vines that covered the east side of the house down and to the landfill. Now we just need to tackle those huge, over grown crepe myrtles in the front yard. Oh and that huge tree that is WAY past dead and hanging all around our power lines in the back yard.

The rest of the house, well Brad & Matt (my brother) have changed out the shower head and bathroom faucet & toilet seat. They also changed the front & back door locks & deadbolts. Next is the kitchen faucet. The current faucet has no sprayer, or rather only a broken sprayer and drips constantly. Nothing on this green Earth will stop that thing from dripping. We've already bought the new faucet/sprayer combo, just need to get it installed. Oh and tap into the water line for the icemaker in the fridge.

All the animals are home now. The cats came home day before yesterday. The dogs came home on Sunday. In case it's never been mentioned, we are at 7 animals and 2 humans in a 1000 sf home. Yes, we have 3 cats and 4 dogs. Surprisingly, it's not as bad as it would seem. They sleep all the time anyway, so it's not really like 7 children running around the house. Okay, sometimes it is, but not ALL the time.

List of To Do's:
1. get yard/landscaping under control
2. Have someone come out and shore up underpinnings of house in crawl space
3. Have plumber come out and fix minor leak from toilet under house
4. Have someone come out to install attic vent and wire it up
5. Replace old door on mud porch
6. Replace kitchen faucet
7. Paint rooms and strip wood work.
8. Buy/sew new blinds/curtains for all rooms (these cheapass nasty vinyl blinds have GOT to go)
9. Figure out what keeps setting our security alarm off while we are sleeping (I've wet myself at least once already)
10. Oh yeah, unpack our shit.
